General Questions 


First of all, how does this all work?

We try to make things as easy as possible at Bare One's Soul so that you can get started quickly and easily. Below are the initial steps to take to create your account and book a session:

Creating your account is a super simple (and super secure). This is the first step in getting your journey started.

Getting to where you want to be is a process. Get started with your first session with one of our expert therapists. 


What is Bare One's Soul? 

Bare One’s Soul is a phone therapy service. We connect clients to licensed therapists and social workers for convenient and private therapy sessions. A client must reside in and have the therapy session from the state where the therapist is licensed.


Do you offer a free trial?

At this time, we do not offer a free trial. Many of our therapists, however, are offering free 10-minute introductory chats so you can get to know them before you commit to a full session with them. Making sure your therapist is a right fit for you is a primary focus of Bare One’s Soul and we certainly hope this offer helps you find the right match for you.  


Will my insurance cover this?

Bare One’s Soul does not currently accept insurance and unfortunately the majority of insurance providers do not provide coverage for telephone therapy. Please check with your insurance provider regarding your benefits and whether you are able to submit a claim for reimbursement. You can also call the number on the back of your insurance card to check your coverage. 


What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.


How is my privacy protected? 

At Bare One’s Soul, your privacy and safety are always the first consideration. Our technology is fully HIPAA compliant and we assure you that you and your data are always kept safe and confidential. Please see our Privacy Policy.


Who are the therapists?

Therapists at Bare One’s Soul have a variety of backgrounds.  Some are licensed, trained, experienced, and accredited psychologists (PhD / PsyD), marriage and family therapists (MFT), clinical social workers (LCSW), or licensed professional counselors (LPC).  Many of them have a Masters Degree or a Doctorate Degree in their field. They have been qualified and certified by their state professional board after successfully completing the necessary education, exams, training and practice.


Scheduling Your Session


Why can’t I select any therapist that is listed on the site?

Due to current government regulations, you may only select a therapist who practices within the state you reside. 


It says there are no therapists available in my state, what do I do?

Unfortunately, you will not be able to book a session with Bare One’s Soul at this time. We are actively building our therapist network and encourage you to check back soon or sign-up for our email newsletter to get periodic updates. 


How do I schedule an appointment?

First, select a therapist who is licensed in your state. Then click on the schedule button to get started setting up your account and reserving your session. Please double check that your phone number is correct when booking your appointment. This is how our system connects you with your therapists and if there is a typo, the system can’t start your session. 


Why do you need an intake form for my appointment?

Filling our your intake form is an important part of the scheduling process. The intake form helps your therapists get a little background information on you and your current situation so that you can start your call off on the right foot. 


I just noticed my phone number is wrong for my upcoming appointment, what do I do?

To change the phone number the system will use to connect you to your therapists, log into the account you created on the Bare One's Soul website. Go to the "My Appointments" tab and find your upcoming appointment. You can change your phone number up to 1 minute before your scheduled appointment. You will not be able to change your phone number after the scheduled appointment has begun.


How many sessions will I need/should I book?

You and your therapist should discuss and monitor your progress. Please keep in mind that therapy is a process. While it is recommended that you sign up for multiple sessions, we cannot determine in advance how many sessions will be needed for your unique concerns.


During/After Your Session


How do I connect with my therapist at the time of my appointment?

You will receive a call from Bare One’s Soul at the number you provided when you scheduled your appointment. If you should miss your call, you may either login to your account on app.bareonessoul.com to view appointments in your account (click on the “Call Me” button shown with your current appointment) or click on the "Call Me" button provided in your appointment reminder email to receive another call.


What if I am late for my session?

We understand that you may be late for your appointment. We will hold your session for you, however it will impact the amount of time you have for your therapy session. For example, if you have scheduled a 30-minute session and are 10 minutes late, your remaining time with your therapist is 20 minutes.


What if my therapist is late for our session?

If you’re therapist has not called more than 5 minutes after your scheduled session start time, please try hanging up and clicking the “Call Me” button in your appointment confirmation email. If your therapists is still not present, please contact Client Care immediately. We will do our best to identify the issue and get your appointment rescheduled as soon as possible. 


What if I have to cancel my appointment?

You must cancel your appointment more than 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment time. If you cancel within 24 hours of your appointment, you will be charged for the full appointment. To cancel your appointment, please click on the cancel button found on your My Appointments page in your Bare One’s Soul website account.


I didn’t receive a call at my appointment time…?

Please check that your phone number is correct in your appointment confirmation. If there is a typo in your phone number, our system will not be able to connect you.


What happens if my call gets disconnected during my session?

If your call disconnects occurs during your scheduled appointment, you or your therapists will be able to reconnect your call through our system:

There are two ways to reconnect:

  1. Log into your BOS account, locate the appointment that has disconnected in the "My Appointments" tab, and click the "Call Me" button.
  2. Find the appointment notification email and click the "Call Me" button from there.  

*Please note that if your appointment time has ended, you will not be able to reconnect.


What if I have another problem with my session?

If you have any other problem or technical difficulty with your call, please contact Client Care.


Can I get a refund for my session?

The therapists on Bare One’s Soul are paid for the professional services that they provide to clients much like you would expect to pay your medical professional. While we don’t offer refunds for those services, if you are not satisfied with your session, we are happy to assist you with finding a new therapist on the service. Simply make that request via the Contact Us.
